Queen for a day...or rather a morning

I belong to a Moms group called M.O.P.S. (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers). It is what gives me sanity twice a month, it is what has made me realize that other mommies out there are as crazy as I am, and ultimately, it is one of the best groups I have ever been part of; needless to say, I love it!

Every month, we celebrate birthdays by making the birthday girl(s) for that month wear a very fashionable lavender tiara and boa, plus a blingin' candy diamond ring, I think the idea is really cool because I love all that silly stuff and I love birthdays!

So guess who's birthday is on November?? Yep! That would be me!! And in MOPS tradition I got to be queen last Tuesday morning and proudly wore my tiara, boa, and blingin' ring!

I must say however, that I was not all queen-like that morning; we always have breakfast during our meetings, I of course love that, the food is always great and plenty. Since I was the special birthday queen, I got to go to the breakfast table first, meaning a lot of hungry moms are patiently waiting for me to get my food while watching my every move at the serving table... Hey, I don't mind a little bit of attention, but I must've been needing a little more than I thought, since while I was getting my food I crashed into one of the girls who was next to me (it was totally my fault) and a few meatballs, breakfast casserole, fruit, pasta salad and pretty much all the food on my plate, went flying all over and landed on the carpeted floor... Nice Honey, very nice!

Not to worry though, because before I could say "oops!" there came a bunch of women to my rescue and cleaned the carpet in less than 5 seconds, so I didn't feel too embarrassed and I was very grateful for their help! That is what made me feel really special, I know I must've looked silly with my queen paraphernalia and my plate of food on the floor, but no one cared, they laughed with me and helped me pick it up, so we all kept on enjoying our MOPS morning and I still felt like a queen, rich with good friends and great food!

So around this time, two years ago...

Last Monday was Ariana's 2nd birthday and believe it or not, I didn't cry every time I thought about her getting older. We had a tiny Bday party, with Daddy, Mami and the Bday girl. We're having a bigger party with a few friends on Sunday and I am very excited because I love having parties and people over!

Last year on Ariana's 1st birthday, Alan and I kept thinking about what we went through the year before, while I was in labor, when I started pushing and when we held her for the 1st time. We did this again this year, I love thinking about the day Ariana was born, I love to remember how that day felt, how exciting it was and how little and new she was.

I will try to make this a little tradition for her birthday, to remember what an amazing experience it was and how happy we were to have her... and then when she's a teenager and starts giving me a hard time, I'll let her know about the 13 hours of labor, the painful contractions that came every 5 seconds and the 3 loooong hours of pushing that she put me through!!

Happy 2nd Birthday Arianita! It was all worth it!!!
Birthday girl with her birthday crown!!! "Yaaaay!!"

If the crib's a rockin'....

I won my first Blog award! It was given to me by my friend Jennifer, her blog is full of great crafts, recipes and funny stories, needless to say, she's rocking the crib as well!
Thank you Jennifer for this award, it made my day and made me feel like I must be doing something right with my blog and even though I haven't done it for that long, I admit that I am already addicted to it and I hope to keep on rockin' the crib!

Long time ago...

I used to take long showers, shampoo twice, leave the conditioner on for a few minutes, scrub, shave my legs, put lotion on, do my nails, take time blow drying my hair, clean my house thoroughly in no time, should I go on? Anyway, it was a long time ago, 2 years to be exact... I can't believe Ariana is turning 2 in less than a week! Where is time going? I know everyone says it goes fast, it's true, it flies. My baby will be 2, she talks so much now and even makes sense, she gets sneakier and sassier everyday, she has the latin temper for sure, but she also hugs and kisses me and daddy all the time and she's always singing, she's a happy little girl and she will always be my baby, she might start her own blog when she's older and talk about how her mom drives her nuts (like I do about her grandma), but I don't care, because I know she'll love me just the same...

So I guess all I wanted to say with this post was, who cares if I don't get long showers anymore or if my hair looks nappy and crazy when I don't blow dry it, or if my skin is a little dry and my nails need some TLC? who cares? The last 2 years of not getting enough time to take care of myself, have been replaced with 2 years of getting to hold my baby girl, giving her long baths, putting lots of lotion on her chunky little body, having fun doing her hair with cute bows, playing with her and leaving a mess of toys all over the living room, and I am looking forward to whatever else the next 2, 5, 10, 20, 40... years will hold for us, because time does fly and I want to make sure I don't miss out!

Happy "almost" 2nd birthday tiqui!

OK for now...

I finally got a chance to play with my header, I'm not crazy about it, but it'll do for now. I want to change my background colors, so I will keep on trying to get that figured out. Once I know how to do a few things, I will come up with a better design.

On a different note, I need to vent a little bit, so here it goes... first let me say that I love my mom, she is my hero and I don't know what I would do without her, I am so blessed to have her and I would not change her for the world... OK so now I vent, she drives me nuts! I swear she needs a double shot of patience straight up with a "slow-down" twist!!! I was trying to do something for her on the internet while we were on the phone, I couldn't see what she needed, so next thing you know I get 500 or more words in spanish at a 1,000 or more MPH in a very high pitched tone of voice that only myself and dogs can hear (because I think my sister's inmune to it). Anyway, long story short, I held my breath, found what she needed, calmed her down, she was happy, she loves me, she misses me, she'll call me tonight... I love you too Mami :)

I'm working on it.

I started looking at how to edit the look of my blog, at first I thought it shouldn't be too hard, kinda like designing a web page. I still think it shouldn't be too hard, however, I realized that there's a little more to it than I thought so at first. So, I am looking into it and I hope it doesn't take me too long to do something fun for my page, I can be pretty picky and tend to spend too much time on little details, so we'll see; plus, the fact that my 2 year old wants to sit on my lap and play with the keybord when I'm on the computer doesn't help much...Anyway, it may take me a little bit of time, but I'm up for the challenge!

My 1st post!

I did it! I finally started my onw blog!
My friends and fellow bloggers Beth (A Mom's Life) and Jennifer (Ramblings of a Crazy Woman) , convinced me to do it, so here it is! So, I would like to dedicate this first post to you girls :) Hope you guys enjoy my blog, leave many comments and take the blame it it's not as good as yours...deal?
So I guess I would like to explain a few things first, like: why I chose my title "Honey+2B's", being named Honey (yes, it is my real name), doesn't leave me with many options for a cute nickname, since um, it already is a nickname...therefore, I decided to come up with something that goes with it. My last (married) name starts with a B (which, obviously sounds like Bee), and I live with my husband and daughter; now, we all know about the Honey and the Bees (or is it the flowers and the...?), anyway, Honey and bees, my name is Honey and my hubby and daughter's last names also starts with the letter B and, ta-daaaa! Honey+2B's....well, I must admit I felt pretty cute and smart about it, so there!
I want to try changing the look of my blog and design something fun, maybe a little HTML and Photoshop, I'll try to come up with my own template (wish me luck B&J!). I have never done this but I figured why not? so please don't freak out if one day my blog looks funky, with ugly fonts and a weird header, and please feel free to leave me suggestions on what I can do to make it better.
I don't like reading pages and pages of text on my computer, so I am going to end this here and go tell my friends about my blog....
